The Jazz Cafe, Saturday night on KNCH

Blues great, Irma Thomas

Hello, San Angelo!

I’m Glenda Taylor, host of the Jazz Cafe, airing Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to midnight on KNCH.

Each week, I feature jazz the first hour and then, starting at 11 p.m., it’s an hour of blues.

I’ll post a playlist each week for each hour. I welcome your comments and requests!

Music being added to the schedule

Ch-ch-ch-changes...

We’ve received numerous letters, emails, phone calls and visited with several people about future programming on KNCH.

While there have been a large number of suggestions and recommendations about what to add to the schedule, one thing we know for certain: we won’t be able to please everyone.  But we can add a small variety of music to the very network-heavy program lineup that has been on the station since Easter.

It is important for me to mention, that the added programs are within our current budgetary constraints.  There were lots of programs we wanted to add but could not due to their cost, delivery mode or lack of availability. [Read more...]

Technical Update: The link is fixed

KNCH was off the air yesterday as a piece of audio equipment was driven from Austin to Lubbock.

That equipment has now been installed here in Lubbock and is actually working!

We are now sending our audio signal directly from Lubbock to San Angelo by a dedicated T-1 circuit- no more Internet delivery for now.  This means that the dropouts and audio problems we have had since early April should be a thing of the past now.

A few listeners have reported that the audio level seems to be a bit lower than it used to be, and we’re working on that. [Read more...]

Technical update

I worked on the link equipment in San Angelo last Tuesday, so if you were listening mid-afternoon and heard the audio quit for several minutes that was my fault.

Here’s the deal.  [Read more...]

What? You didn’t get my email?

I’ve been dutifully replying to all of the emails we have received about all things KNCH.  It’s been a goldmine of information for us and we appreciate all of the comments received thus far.

To my horror, I found out yesterday that MOST of my emailed replies never made it to San Angelo.

I have no idea why that might be, but one person I spoke with via the telephone did indeed confirm that none of my emails to them has been received. [Read more...]

A word about programming

We’ve been getting several questions regarding programming on KNCH, and that’s to be expected.  In fact, we want to hear from our listeners about the programming currently on the station, and what they would like to hear in the future. [Read more...]

Troubleshooting this past Sunday

Do I cut the blue wire?

We’ve received several complaints from KNCH listeners about audio drop-outs, distortion and “grunge” in the station’s sound. [Read more...]
